一、修饰手法
“movie so racist it is thought"采用了仿句修辞手法，将美国人常说的"Movie So Bad It’s Good"中的若干词置换掉，临时仿造。也就是，模仿"Movie So Bad It’s Good"的语言结构重新生成的"so racist it is thought”，通过媒体的强势传播，博眼球、博出位，成为“新闻标题”。
二、语法结构
Griffith’s 1915 blockbuster “The Birth of a Nation,” a movie so racist it is thought to have sparked the resurgence of the Ku Klux Klan.中：
(1) Griffith’s 1915 blockbuster有两个同位语，"The Birth of a Nation"和a movie。
(2) so racist it is thought to have sparked…作a movie的后置定语（其中it指代a movie），相当于a movie that is so racist (that) it is thought to have sparked…这时变成总结型的 (Summative) “同位定语从句” 。
注意：这里的结果状语从句引导词，是关联从属连词so…(that)…
(3) to be thought to have done sth (被认为做了某事) 固定搭配。
(4) 注意spark这个词 [transitive] (especially journalism 尤用于新闻) to cause sth, especially a problem or emergency, to start or develop, especially suddenly (尤指突然地) 引发，触发（尤指问题或意外）。
参考译文：格里菲斯1915年的（好莱坞）大片《一个国家的诞生》，又名《同族人》（The Clansman）（系美国无声电影）宣扬种族歧视如此嚣张，以至于被认为是三K党重新抬头的罪魁祸首。
